Math Problem Posts On LinkedIn….No Problem!

We’ve all seen it…..MATH PROBLEMS on Linkedin…ALERT! ALERT! Keep it Professional!….yada, yada, yada.

Here’s my opinion about on the matter:

As a social media guru, I believe math problems DO have their place on social media including LinkedIn. I’m sure you’ll agree, if your business or industry has sodoing math on limething to do with math like teaching, engineering, or financial, etc….it definitely belongs. But even if you’re not in one of those industries, it still has a place. Besides there are thousands of Recruiters on LinkedIn looking for people to fill their open positions. Perhaps they’re looking for someone who pays attention to detail, is analytical, or has a great sense of humor.

We all know, LinkedIn is a professional social media platform. Everyone’s definition of social & professional may be different. Here is what Merriam‑Webster had to say:

Definition of social: 1 : enjoying other people : sociable 2 : relating to interaction with other people especially for pleasure 3 : of or relating to human beings as a group
Definition of professional: 1 a : of, relating to, or characteristic of a profession b : engaged in one of the learned professions c (1) : characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2) : exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace.

I always tell my clients, keep the “social” in social media. People get on social media to connect to people and will connect with us on things they relate to, even if it has nothing to do with our business. Being “social” is and should be a part of your social media marketing; it increases engagement and reach …this is what you want. Of course, content is king and having great content is always best but sometimes people just need a break from all the great content. This is where inspirational/motivational quotes come in as well as these irritating math problems. These type of posts make you STOP! take a break, read, think, smile, laugh, etc. A break from the monotony! Like a smoke break for the smokers but healthier. Posting math problems does all this, keeps the “social” in social media and increases engagement and reach — by the way, have you noticed all the comments these posts get?!?

There is an easy solution to this Math Problem (pun intended ha ha!! couldn’t resist!). It doesn’t require you to play Rock, Paper, Scissors, although that would be fun. It’s simple math really, just as easily as you chose to connect with that Math Problem posting person, it’s just as easy to disconnect with them. Problem Solved!

So if it really irritates you that much and to keep LinkedIn professional (for you), I would recommend disconnecting from that person who posts those irritating math problems and everybody is happy. No need to post your “Keep LinkedIn Professional” posts….or is that YOUR way of increasing engagement on your profile? 😉
